Construction firm diversifies project sectors with new sales leader

Client’s Challenge

A Wisconsin-based construction company was in the process of succession planning as the second generation began taking over leading the organization. It was a comfortable passing of the baton as the second generation had been fully engaged in all aspects of the business for many years. The new leaders had a vision to grow and diversify the mix of project offerings while remaining true to its high-quality delivery approach. However, they recognized that they needed advice and expertise to define the ideal profile, role expectations and compensation evaluation for a new Director of Business Development and Marketing.

Talent Growth Solution

The CFO and President engaged Talent Growth after being referred to Maria Groves. “The national firms did not take the time to get to know our business and ultimately what is important to us. You took the time and we built trust and a comfort level with you” (CFO, design/build firm). In working with the leadership team, Talent Growth immediately defined and designed the ideal professional profile, job description, and interview toolkit. Utilizing Talent Growth’s state-of-the-art research and sourcing methodologies, they were able to tap into the local passive candidate landscape. Talent Growth Partners relieved the client burden of screening and interviewing candidates. As a team, Talent Growth and the CEO & CFO of the construction company completed final interviews together. Talent Growth managed compensation design and negotiations along with drafting the offer letter.

Outcome

Talent Growth was instrumental in identifying the requirements for the Director of Business Development and Marketing position after understanding the current business model and vision of the client. After successfully filling this role, the client chose to leverage Talent Growth for additional positions.

With Talent Growth we hired two qualified, top notch employees, that not only meet us where we are coming from, but are also helping us drive the business forward.
